Can't touch this

We have been MC HAMMERED by viruses this year. It's outrageous. The good thing about it is that it makes the times when we are healthy seem easy. At first it seemed hard, the day to day of life with another child in the mix but now it seems like cake, unless we are sick. Then, it is hell. This last round was pretty bad. Davey and I got really sick and then Jasper got it. Jasper is still sick but he is finally getting better. Davey had to be put on antibiotics because he had ear infections in both ears and crap in his lungs, which is basically the beginning of pneumonia. He's 100% better now though. Thank GOD. Jasper had a little wheeze in his lungs so they sent us home with a nebulizer to do breathing treatments on him. It's basically like an asthma inhaler but since he's too little to know how to suck it in you pour the medicine into this little machine and it sprays it out in a very fine mist which you put in front of his mouth and he inhales it for a while. I'm very glad we had it because there were several times that he broke into a coughing fit and I was extremely concerned that he was unable to get a full breath. There are few things scarier than an infant who can't breathe. Babies are just so damned scary. I have to say, I like it better once they can talk.

Jasper is a very tough little guy though! He's been very good and even though he's feeling horrible, he still flashes us little smiles to let us know he's going to be alright. Thank god we didn't ever have to go to the hospital. I was so afraid that the doctor was going to listen to his lungs and tell us that he has pneumonia and would need to be admitted. THANK GOD no. That didn't happen. He said that Jasper is getting the air that he needs and he's fighting it and will be well soon. He is getting better. He's still sick but we haven't had to use the nebulizer in 2 days and he's sleeping a little better at night, getting up every 90 minutes instead of every 30 minutes. Yes, I am so fucking tired.

Yesterday, Dup stayed home with Jasper and Davey and I went to the zoo. We had such a nice day together just mommy and Davey. His favorite animal was the photo booth which is his rocket ship. We were in there FOREVER. God toddlers love repetition so much. It's unbelievable. Davey is super into little role playing games now and it's very cute but also exhausting. Every night I put Jasper in the bath with me and Davey always wants to get in too so the three of us end up squished into the bath together. Davey has gotten on this kick where we drive to the zoo in the bath. He starts the adventure out by switching every one's roles around. He'll say, "I'm Mommy. You Davey." Then I'll say, "who is Jasper?" and he'll say, "Daddy." and I'll say, "who is Daddy then?" and he says, "Elephant." makes me laugh every time. So Davey drives us to the zoo as me and then he announces, "We're here!" very excitedly and then we have to get a snack which involves me-Davey and Jasper-Daddy knocking on the side of the bathtub wherein Davey-mommy turns into the snack bar attendant. Then we order some broccoli, two juice boxes and a hot dog which we split. Davey-Mommy-Counter attendant offers us mustard, then we're off to see the animals! It's quite an elaborate game.

Yesterday morning Davey wanted to take a bath and I'm never one to deter the boy from bathing so we took a bath and we were playing zoo. Finally I was like, "we need to get out of the bath so we can go to the REAL zoo." and he was like, "NO STAY! GO ZOO!" So I was like, "Ok, we can play one more time but then we need to get out so that we can go to the REAL zoo." So we played one more time and when we got to the part where he goes, "We're here!" For some reason I said, "Where are we?" and he replied, "REAL Zoo!" It was a mind bender.
